Vacay to CO!

We awoke at 3:00 a.m. (yes that is A.M.), got in a packed up car, met up with two other families and headed to the glorious mountains of Colorado.  These two precious faces accompanied us.

We had been planning a trip to Colorado since the fall.  And after inviting some friends and them saying yes, we worked out the details.  A few fell through (like the house we were planning on staying in), but thanks to some awesome guys, a replacement was found and the excitement grew!

The trip there was great... a caravan of 3 cars with 2 adults and 2 kids in each car (thankfully man on man defense).  These kiddos were troopers...up at 3:00 a.m. out of their warm snugly beds to be carried out into the cold, loaded into the car and expected to sit happily for the next 13 hours.  Well they did (for the most part)!

And then we got to the mountains, and the views were majestic to say the least!

There was plenty of time for movies,

games,

sledding,

and my absolute favorite part of the trip, seriously the frosting on the cake because even without it, the trip would have been fabulous, but we had been talking to SE about getting to ski.  We tossed around the ideas of ski school and private 1 hour lessons, but those were both a little pricey.  So one afternoon we were pumped to go to a family friendly ski area where toddler skis were only $12!  I told Sean we were putting them on SE's feet because even if he hated them, it was only $12.  My little man didn't disappoint...

HE LOVED SKIING!  My momma's heart swelled with pride.  He would have skied all afternoon if we had let him.  He went up the chair lift with Sean and Uncle Zach and skied down the "mountain" to them.

And let's not forget the other cuties who aren't quite ready to ski yet.
Finley knows where her head is!
Lawson is such a sweetheart!
In the wagon...it didn't last long for either one of them.  Ha!
Of course what's a vacation without a little drama...the day before we left to head home, SE was playing in the hot tub and fell catching himself with his two front teeth and gums.  There was blood because that is what mouth injuries do, and fear that teeth were knocked loose, or worse, out, but neither of those happened.  Just a lot of blood and some sore teeth and one very upset little boy who couldn't eat solid food for several days.  But praise Jesus, the roots are not damaged, and we are believing the nerves aren't either.

Looking back on the previous trips we've taken, while we've had amazing times just the 4 of us, I'm starting to find that the trips taken with other friends are turning into some of our most memorable.  The little ones played with each other so well, we got to love on our friends' kiddos, and after we put the kids to bed, partook in some pretty fun adult time that included sledding down the mountain in only one's shorts (and running into a tree, Sean Boyd) and rolling in the snow to jump back into the hot tub.  I love Colorado, I love vacations, but I love the people who make my love for vacations and Colorado more!

Epilogue:  I can't help but add these two pictures of Finley...
Look at her sweet eyelashes!

Her precious...baby Cheetos!
